Shackle padlock

Central Europe, mid-18th century

Forged, welded malleable iron. Two arched shackles hinged on one side to the housing, which is engraved with Auricular ornamentation. Lock mechanism at the centre of the padlock. The ring-shaped bow is forged to the baluster-shaped collar on the shank of the key. Filed bit.
